- Bagels- 6×4 ounces
- Melted and unsalted butter- 4 tablespoons
- Cheddar Cheese- 2 cups
- Eggs- 12
- Thick cut bacon- 8 slices
- Green onions- ½ cup
- Whole milk- 2 ¾ cups
- Garlic powder- ½ teaspoon
- Pepper- ½ teaspoon
- Salt- ½ teaspoon
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Now take a big bowl, cut the bagels into slices and add those slices to the bowl. Now add melted butter and toss them together.
- Transfer the bagel cubes onto baking sheets and bake them for 10 to 15 minutes. They should be toasted and dried.
- Now take a baking dish and coat it with butter. Cover the dish bottom with a 1/3rd of the bagel cubes available and sprinkle cheese as well as bacon on it. Then add the green onions. Now add another layer of bagels and repeat the step again.
- Take a large bowl, mix eggs, garlic, milk, salt and pepper to it. Pour this mixture on the casserole and ensure that the entire bread is moistened. Take a plastic sheet to wrap and press the bread gently. Cover the casserole and let it sit for at least two hours. If you have time then it will be great to keep it for overnight in the refrigerator.
- When you are ready to cook, take the strata from the fridge and preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
- Keep strata at room temperature for 30 minutes minimum and bake it in the oven. The temperature for baking should be 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Now bake the strata without foil for thirty minutes and with foil for another twenty minutes.
- If you want you can sprinkle more green onions too.
